T6 W4 (WITH PICTURES)

Happy Birthday to me! Thanks for everyone who sent gifts, I loved each and every one of them! A family in one of the wards we cover actually threw me a surprise party, which was sweet. They totally had me going too. I had a couple of random people show up with gifts from back home in Arizona. I guess that's just a perk of serving in the valley.

Some good news, We committed Chelly, the person who house we're helping to clean, to being baptized on April 25. She has a long way to go, but she's taking the steps there. We've also had success with the new Easter video 'He Lives'. We've used it to get into houses where we couldn't have before, and to help members do missionary work. If you haven't watched it yet, you should, it's pretty good.

You learn a lot of important things on a mission, a lot of important lessons. I think that's my favorite part of being out here; learning lessons I wouldn't have at home. It's been a really awesome experience.

Not a whole lot else has happened. I'm looking forward to going to conference with Stacee, one of our 'slowpoke' investigators. We're hoping that something will click with her there.

Well, that's about it. I hope you all have an awesome week!

This is a picture I was texted by someone in Gunner's ward, on his birthday!

These are pictures sent from Denise Lingen from the ward Gunner is serving in. She said. " Elder Martineau and Elder Lybbert came over today for a few minutes to have a squirt gun fight with my kids."

T6 W3

Well, so this was a pretty slow week. We taught like one lesson, but that's because most of our lessons had to cancel. This area is definitely different than Wyoming for sure. I'm super excited about conference coming up and we get to go to the temple as a Zone tomorrow, which'll be a lot of fun.

Last P-day we had a barbecue together as a Zone. Everyone was in charge of getting different things (we got buns) and it was a blast. Playing soccer outside is pretty funny because you have:

- People who have soccer scholarships waiting for them
- People who have never seen a soccer ball before

and then everything in between. The teams are never balanced...

On other news; my legs are killing me. Yea we have a small area, but size doesn't matter when you still walk it every day all day (because of the no lessons). My legs are going to be huge.

I love using the iPads and teaching with them, they're a good resource for sure and we're not even using them at their fullest.

That's about it. My birthday is in 6 days, so throw a party for me back home or something!

Love you all,

Elder Martineau

T6W2 (WITH PICTURES)

Well, this was pretty sweet week. I can't say a whole lot has happened. This area is a lot slower than Rock Springs, but that's ok! We're still just as busy, just it's more with members. Avery fell off date because her Mom is extremely busy and can't meet, and one of our investigators dropped us because of stuff she read online, which was pretty sad. Jerrie, the less active person we've been working with came to church for the first time in 10 years yesterday! She's made incredible progress, and is so much happier!

Since we're so close to the conference center, if we take someone with us, we get first-rights to tickets, which is pretty neat. I think we're going to go to the Sunday afternoon session with one of our investigators who's right on the edge of committing to being baptized. Hopefully it'll be that final push that she needs. Her name is Stacee, and besides her we are working actively with Jerrie, Chelly, and Brooke.

Using iPads is like the coolest thing to happen since ever. I bought a different case for mine (the one we got was bulky and annoying to open), so I'm the only one with a beautiful, red case. They're super cool for lessons, and great for taking notes. I don't even carry anything else around except for it, it was everything I could ever need. It also takes beautiful pictures. Which I'll upload as part of this. :)

Well, that's about it. I'm still trying to adjust to this new area, and to walking EVERYWHERE (and sometimes running haha). I hope you all have a great week! Take care.

T6 W1 (WITH LOTS OF PICTURES)

My favorite part about this is the bottom of this message*. You can scroll down really quick it you want. :) So, I'm currently in Salt Lake in the Highland Stake. We cover 4 of the wards there, so if anyone knows people living there, I could go and say "Hi" to them! My new companion is Elder Lybbert. He's from Alberta Canada, we've been out the same time, and 2 of his previous companions were Elder Wilson and Elder Kirsi. (For those of you who don't remember, these were my last two companions, he was trained by Elder Wilson) Also, since he's a newly-called district leader, that means we have a car! WOO! No biking for me! We do walk a lot though, to talk to people on the street.

Missionary work is so different down here. So many members are proactive about it. Even though we're not teaching nearly as much here as I was in Rock Springs, we are definitely still busy. I really don't know a whole lot about who we're teaching yet. We have 7 investigators, and one on date for the 21st of March. I have fallen in love with a less-active person we're working with who's name is Jerrie. She's like 60 and suffers from really bad depression and anxiety, and I love being able to go over and go on walks with her, and just make her smile in general. She's a really sweet lady. I think most of the people that we're teaching are pretty old, and slowly moving forward. I heard that all I would do is teach kids (9-10 year-olds), but that's definitely not the case here.

Well, I'm running out of time, but I'll be sure to have more info next time. Have an awesome week!
